Preston Junior High will be saying goodbye to one of its finest this year. "Mrs. Smith," known as Mom to me, is retiring after 26 years of being the secretary there. I think 26 years is a long time to work at the same place, and it's an awful lot of young adolescents to put up with also! I have filled in (or tried to) for my mom when she has been on vacation a couple of times, and it made me proud to hear the comments the teachers would say to me like, "you know your mom runs this school," or "I don't know what we would do around here without Edith." I know she will be sorely missed there, but I know there is a time for everything, and it's time for her to move on. There is a whole wide world out there waiting for her, and I know she is looking forward to it. Congratulations on a job well done Mom. And Happy Mother's Day. I love you.
