Happy Anniversary Baby...got you on my mind......
January always makes me want to "rid-out", as my grandma calls it. I always look around and decide that my house is full of junk, and it needs to be cleaned and badly organized!! So I find myself going through things, and came upon my old journals. I found one dated August 21, 1999. I won't put the exact entry in here, because I sound like I'm 12. I sound like Kaitlyn lusting after one of her...idols. Anyway, I talk about going to the fair in Preston and watching the Desert Skies band perform there, and how the lead singer of the band sure caught my eye. I said that no one had caught my eye like that in a long time, but that I was sure he was married. In fact, we asked one of the band members after and they said he was. I remember at church the next day telling my neighbor that I had met my dream man, but he was married. Since I was single, and he wasn't, I never saw him again. Thought about him, but never saw him. I'm not really into married men.
So some two years later, in December of 2001, my friend Debbie tells me she has someone to set me up with. If you're single, live in Utah, and are over 30, you have a story, so I asked her what his was. She said, (I still remember her exact words) "I have no idea. But he works at Northern Title, he's loaded, and has sex appeal." Fine. Tell him to call me. (I'm thinking, It can't possibly be worse than a hundred other blind dates I've been on). Turns out he was the lead singer in that band I had seen and dreamed about 2 years earlier. Now I know there's you out there who are rolling your eyes and saying......puhleeeaaaease.......but this is a true story.
So Jay and I dated off and on for the next two years, and if you know me very well, you know the rest of the story. ANYWAY.....wednesday marks our six year anniversary. It hasn't been exactly "happily ever after"....but my life hasn't exactly consisted of fairy tales anyway. What it has consisted of is hard work, dedication, determination, and knowing that it's just kept getting better and better since the day we got married. So, lucky for me, I'm off to Hawaii with my prince charming. Did I say my life hadn't consisted of fairy tales???? Silly me......
